Hotels are moving away from providing bibles as one of the literature options to their guests. Previously, guests could enter a hotel room, look in one of the drawers and behold a King James Holy Bible available for guests to peruse at their convenience. However, this is no longer the case. The thing I used to expect is now obsolete and can only be found in maybe Christian own lodging areas.
Why We Need the Word of God
Some of you may disagree with organized religion and advocate for religious freedom. You may believe this is an achievement, a small win for the movement; however, from where I stand, this sad oversight will impact our citizens for years to come. For the word of God gives hope. It inspires and strengthens people’s faith. You don’t need to be a self-proclaimed Christian for the scripture to manifest and help you through life. In moments of trouble, there is always an encouraging story or verse. When we need courage, we can lean on Deuteronomy 31:6 to give us strength.
“Don’t be intimidated or afraid of them; instead, be strong and bold. The Lord will never leave your side and always be there to guide you.”
As we’ve become more progressive, we set aside the foundational values that have made us who we are as individuals and as a nation. America was founded on Christian values and doctrines. Even if people in power who claim to be Christian misuse, weaponize, and twist the word of God for their gains. God remains omnipotent and omnipresent. We need to word of God needs to be taught now more than ever, and people need to have access to it. By removing the bibles from the hotels, you are hindering people’s opportunity to have access to one of the few resources that bring love, grace, and mercy.
Yet, as was proclaimed in 2 Timothy 4:3
“For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.”
You may not believe in God, but in the direction that the country and the world are going, we need God more than ever to protect, guide, and bless us. The word of God holds power and wisdom and can change and transcend people’s lives—at best, it is a good read for nonbelievers.
So, let’s bring back bibles to American hotel rooms. No matter how unpopular, religious values, morals, and decency will never go out of style and are transferable across religions.
