It is 6:30 pm on day three, and I think I will make it until tomorrow. Last week, I received an email from Groupon informing me that I had some money available in my account from a previous item that I did not use, so I decided to use the cash to get a Groupon for Juice from the RAW 3-Day Cleanse. I planned to take the week off and thought it would be the perfect time to try something new.

So, I made my order and scheduled it to arrive by Friday. Quick note: the shipping cost was more than I have ever paid for any previous items. They had a specific shipping and handling fee for Groupon customers. Anyway, I knew I would not be able to start it on Saturday or Sunday due to prior holiday gatherings, but come Monday, and it was fair game. My juice box arrived on time and was still frozen. I placed them in the freezer until I was ready to start.

Monday morning was a battle of will. First, I had to convince myself that it was the best day to start with the cleanse. I kept thinking about all the left-over food from the weekend that I was going to miss out on and the fact that it was the first day of my vacation, and I should spend it eating some great food, and that I could start it next week. I am not sure how I won that battle, but I DID, because I am the boss of this body, and I had to remind myself continuously.

It was a difficult day. I spent most of it thinking about food. The craving was ridiculous. I had a headache, and my blood pressure was high throughout most of the day. I took a Tylenol (500 mg) mid-day, which helped a bit. However, I did not do much. I had some brief errands to run at Kohls and Home Depot, which took about two and half hours, during which I had to use the restroom three times. I took a nap after returning home and spent the rest of the evening watching television. At the end of day one, I had drunk five of the six recommended juices, a serving of Brussels sprouts, and a handful of hazelnuts (I needed something to chew).

Tuesday was a blurb. I felt exhausted. I spent most of the day lounging around watching TV, playing games on my phone, reading, and napping. By night, I felt a sense of clarity. My headache was gone, and my blood pressure had gone down from the day before. I did not have as many cravings as the day before. I was tempted a couple of times, but I held firm. My mom had made chicken and rice and beans that smelled so good that I ended up hiding in my room most of the afternoon and evening to avoid caving in. I also only drunk only five of the juices, with a serving of Brussels sprouts, and a handful of hazelnuts.

Wednesday, the last day, I woke up feeling a sense of accomplishment that I reached the third day. This is something that I have always wanted to do, and I was doing it. I felt like I could do anything and had an increase in energy. I spent most of the day cleaning the dining room, living room, and kitchen house. It did take a lot longer than usual. I found myself stopping every half hour to hour to either drink some juice, water, or coffee to keep me going. However, I did it, and it felt so good. I did not have any cravings today. I felt my body was resigned to the fact that some news was happening and that the juice it was receiving was it. Now, I am just thinking about what I want to eat tomorrow. I have three juice left over that I am going to drink tomorrow along with my meals.

In reflection, I am glad I did it. My goal is to complete a 7-day Juice Cleanse/7 Day Water Detox. I am going to work towards that goal slowly. I did not do this for weight loss, but I will probably lose 2lbs from this process. I did it to detox my body and to help reset it. I had been feeling so groggy and a little bloated, all that is gone now.

I would recommend this detox program to anyone interested in trying it out.

Below are the flavors from the one I tried and the ingredients. My least favorites were the Detox Greens and Sweet Greens. Kale and celery are not something that I like to drink raw, but I am okay eating them when cooked.

Detox Greens- Pineapples, celery, cucumber, green kale, spinach, dandelion

Sweet Greens- green kale, spinach, swisschard, romaine, celery, cucumber, ginger, lemon, apple

Coconut Fusion- Thai coconut water &; flesh

Pine-Apple Mint

Spicy Lemonade- lemons, agave nectar, cayenne pepper, and H20

UpBEET- carrot, apple, beet, lemon, &; ginger
