Seek First the Kingdom of God

Mathew Chapter 6 v. 33-34 “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

This verse is part of Jesus’ famous Sermon on the Mount where he is addressing people’s concerns about how they are going to take care of their daily basic needs, such as their food, clothing, and shelter.

As Christians, we live by these words of assurance that God has our back in every situation that we face. People have a tendency to worry about everything.  There’s a lot of unknown, and that scares us.

You want to do well, and you want to live your life for Christ, but there are “all these things” that you have to deal with and sometimes you get lost in the mist of it all and you can’t figure out what’s your number one priority is.

Because you are worrying about school and getting good grades. You worry about your job, friends, and family.  You even worry about things that have not come to be.  So, how can we live for the kingdom of God and have the kingdom live within us.

We need to repent and believe in the gospel.  In Romans 8 v. 7, we learn that “the carnal [natural, human] mind is enmity [hostile] against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.”

Our thoughts, fears and worries are eminently what take us away from God. And Jesus is telling us to STOP WORRYING!!! He’s Got Us! We need to have faith that God is in control every aspect of our life. For faith is the substance of things hope for and the evidence of things not seen.
